About me

Thank  you for visiting!

Just before I lay down oil, acrylic, or pastel for a new painting, I feel anxious and wonder how the very first mark will appear. Where will I place the mark? Will my hand be heavy or light? Should the mark be bold or should I place a lingering drip? What is my intention here?

Often I realize I have been holding my breath while these questions reel.

Sometimes the mark feels beautiful and smooth. Sometimes pastel breaks into dust. Sometimes I have not cleaned my brush well and a new color streak challenges my next move. Work with it or wipe?

It is always a surprise to feel the canvas’ first response to an initial mark and that surprise is fun.  The process of painting is an adventure. I meet the unexpected with each mark and I do breathe.  Unknowing pushes curiosity and that is why I try different styles, subjects, and media. It all keeps me sparked and entertained.

I hope that you will feel that energy of curiosity, joy, and entertainment as you take a look around to find something that creates a spark in you, too.

Welcome!
